Our Organization:
The Imperial Beach Swim Team (IBST)
is an official USA Swimming Club Team made up of some of the most motivated,
dedicated and chlorinated kids in the South Bay. Based out of the Mar Vista High School
Swimming Pool, the Imperial Beach Swim Team is a non-profit organization whose
members train year-round in pursuit of athletic excellence, personal
achievement and community camaraderie.
Our Mission:
As a multi-level, competitive swimming club team, the
Imperial Beach Swim Team trains year-round to learn and perfect the four
competitive swimming strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and
Butterfly. Working with their coaches
and each other, swimmers strive for perfection on the pool deck and establish
values that help guide their growth and development outside of the pool as
well. The Imperial Beach Swim Team prides itself on its community involvement
and encouragement of characteristics such as responsibility, accountability,
loyalty, pride and friendship, in the pool and beyond.
Our Governing Body:
Our governing body is USA Swimming, an organization
established in 1978 after the congressional passage of the Armature Sports Act,
which specified that all Olympic sports would be administered
independently. USA Swimming formulates
the rules, implements policies & procedures and is responsible for the
conduct and administration of all swimming organizations in the United States,
including IBST.
